While Lonavala is famous for its trekking peaks and busy waterfalls, those seeking quiet reflection and nature walks will find Valvan Dam and Lake to be a peaceful sanctuary. Built across the Kundali River, the dam supplies water to the Khopoli power station and feeds a massive, calm reservoir.
Valvan Gardens
At the base of the dam lies the beautifully landscaped Valvan Garden. Featuring lush green lawns, old flowering trees, and stone walkways, it is an ideal spot for an evening stroll, reading a book, or watching the sunset over the quiet waters.
Why Visit Valvan?
- Tranquil Atmosphere: Unlike Bhushi Dam, Valvan does not allow swimming or water splashing. This keeps the crowds low and makes it a quiet space to connect with nature.
- Proximity to ADMAC: The dam is located just 6 km from our campus. It takes less than 10 minutes to reach via the old highway.
- Sunset Views: The reflection of the Sahyadri mountains in the calm waters of the lake during sunset is a paradise for photography and meditation.
Visiting Tip: The gardens are best visited between 4:00 PM and 6:30 PM when the weather cools down. Entry is free, but please respect the peaceful environment and avoid littering.
