Lonavala's waterfalls are entirely monsoon-dependent — spectacular from June through September, and mostly dry trickles the rest of the year. Here's an honest, season-by-season read.
Bhushi Dam
The most photographed spot in Lonavala, and also the most crowded — expect a real crush of people on weekends during monsoon. Go on a weekday, or arrive before 8:00 AM on a weekend if that's your only option.
Kune Falls
One of the tallest waterfalls in the region, visible from the Mumbai–Pune highway. Less crowded than Bhushi, with a proper viewing point rather than wading pools — better if you want to look, not swim.
The One Most Visitors Miss
A short, unmarked cascade near the Rajmachi trail base, mostly used by trekkers passing through rather than waterfall tourists. We point weekend guests here specifically when Bhushi is overrun — ask hosts for directions when you check in.
Off-Season Reality
Outside monsoon (roughly October–May), most falls in the area reduce to a trickle or dry up completely. If you're visiting for waterfalls specifically, plan for June–September and expect crowds to match.
Staying at ADMAC? Ask the hosts for this weekend's real-time conditions — trail crowding, road access and water levels change fast in the hills.
